Two questions to start: roughly when the roof and the furnace went in. Photograph a nameplate and the make, model and serial fill in. A new home arrives with all of it from the builder.

Filters, detectors, eavestroughs, the sump pump before the thaw. Each one on the interval your climate asks for, and each one raised before it becomes a repair.
